Object name Interior of Hut at Cape Royds
Caption One way Shackleton hoped to fund the Endurance-Aurora Expedition, 1914-1917, was by promising penguin pelts to various museums and individuals. The Ross Sea Party was responsible for procuring about 1,000 skins. Since Ernest Joyce had the most experience, he taught the other members of the party how to skin a penguin. No one is sure who wrote this sign, but it was probably done in jest.
